Multivac Opens 18.8 Million Euros Manufacturing Plant in Bulgaria

The German packaging giant Multivac, one of the world’s leading providers of packaging solutions for food, life science and healthcare products has opened a new manufacturing plant in Bulgaria. The facility, which required 18.8 million euros of investment, is Multivac’s first manufacturing site in emerging Europe.

The 20,000 sq m facility is located in Bozhurishte, near Sofia, and includes a factory building which will produce machine parts for packaging equipment.

More than 150 jobs have been created as a result of the investment, many in IT, strategic purchasing and design, and the new site will also include a warehouse and logistics centre, a training centre and an administration building.

“We are pleased to celebrate the opening of our first production facility in eastern Europe,” said Hans-Joachim Boekstegers, managing director and group CEO of Multivac. “Working in three shifts, qualified specialists at this site will produce machine parts and assemblies that meet the Multivac quality standard. The machinery we have here is as advanced as that which we use at our headquarters in Germany.”

Ivaylo Dimitrov, managing director of Bulgaria Production, added: “We are proud that the Multivac Group has opted for Bulgaria as the place to expand its production capacity. Our goal is to be one of the most modern production sites within the group and to guarantee high standards through our specialists.”

In addition to the new plant in Bulgaria, Multivac has eleven additional production sites in Germany, Austria, Spain, Brazil, Japan, Finland and the US, as well as more than 80 sales and service companies worldwide.
