Poland’s Orbis Opens First Slovenia Properties

The Polish hotel operator Orbis, the strategic partner of AccorHotels throughout central and eastern Europe, has opened its first properties in Slovenia. The two hotels, a Mercure and an ibis Styles, are both located in the spa town of Maribor, and have been developed in partnership with local investor Terme Maribor.

“We intend to further develop our hotel management strategy that will lead us into becoming one of the most internationally recognised and prominent hotel providers in this region, in Maribor especially,” said Ignacio Rodriguez, the director of Terme Maribor. “By partnering with Orbis/AccorHotels, we believe we have gained a lot of know-how, higher standards and better conditions when presenting our offer to foreign guests.”

“Orbis is the leading hotel operator in central and eastern Europe, and the sole licensor of all AccorHotels brands in the region,” added Emeline Sýkora-Wintrebert, development manager of AccorHotels/Orbis South-Eastern Europe, Czech Republic, Slovakia. “With the opening of these hotels, in partnership with Terme Maribor, we further strengthen our leading position in the region.”

Orbis currently operates more than 120 hotels and is the sole licensor of all AccorHotels brands in 16 CEE countries, including Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. It offers a total of 20,000 rooms across a range of brand names: Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure, ibis, ibis Styles and ibis budget.

Orbis reported EBITDA of 389.6 million zloty in 2016 (93.2 million euros).
