The Czech Republic’s capital city has been ranked 68th in Mercer’s Quality of Living 2015 Report, thus offering the highest quality of life in Emerging Europe. Prague is closely followed by Budapest and Ljubljana (both ranked 75th) and Vilnius and Warsaw (ranked 79th).
Poland’s Wrocław is the only non-capital city in Emerging Europe which is included in the report. According to Mercer, a strong talent pool and sound infrastructure have put Wrocław on the list of emerging cities in Europe. Moreover, the city has a thriving cultural and social environment and good availability of consumer goods.
“As with last year’s survey, we continue to recognise emerging cities that are increasingly becoming competitors to traditional business and finance centres. These so called ‘second-tier emerging cites’ are investing, particularly in infrastructure to improve their quality-of-living standards and ultimately attract more foreign companies,” says Slagin Parakatil, Principal at Mercer.
