Latvia buys four Black Hawk helicopters

Latvia has purchased four new UH-60 Black Hawk medium-lift utility helicopters costing 175 million euros.

“Helicopter replacement is vital, not only for the tasks performed by the National Armed Forces but also for maintenance of civil functions and supporting society,” explained Latvia’s Defence Minister Raimonds Bergmanis.

The Latvian government signed an intergovernmental agreement with the United States on September 11, following US approval of the sale. Included in the agreement, the US will provide staff training, support and implementation of operating procedures in line with US standards.
