Moldovan President Igor Dodon was involved in a car crash on September 9, but escaped with only minor injuries, his press office has reported.
“There was a car accident, thanks to God everyone is safe and sound,” said spokeswoman Carmina Lupei.
Local media reported the crash happened when an oncoming lorry overtook a vehicle and crashed into the presidential convoy near the town of Strașeni, about 30 kilometres north of Moldova’s capital Chișinau.
Mr Dodon, 43, has been president on Moldova since December 2016.
The crash came a day after Gennady Gaguliya, the prime minister of Georgia’s breakaway republic of Abkhazia was killed in car crash during his return from a visit to Syria
