IFC eyes more investment in key sectors of Belarusian economy

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank group, is eyeing the Belarusian manufacturing, agriculture, wood processing and food retail sectors for further investment by the end of this year, its representative in the country has said.

In an interview with the television channel STV, head of the IFC in Belarus Olga Shcherbina said that the IFC wants to invest want to invest at least 50-60 million US dollars before the end of 2019.

“We love investing in Belarus,” said Ms Shcherbina. “We have a very good investment track record here. All of the projects that we have implemented in the country have been successful. Belarus is one of the few countries that is default-free, and I mean that not a single project has defaulted. We are currently interested in manufacturing, agriculture, wood processing and food retail projects.”
