The Georgian economy expanded by 4.9 per cent during the first half of 2019 compared to the first six months of the previous year, the Georgian press has reported.
According to Georgia’s National Statistics Office (Geostat), the corresponding year-on-year figure stood at five per cent for June.
Geostat director Gogita Todradze said that Georgian exports between January-June 2019 increased by 11.5 per cent year-on-year and amounted to close to 1.8 billion US dollars. “Meantime, imports have dropped to 4.19 billion US dollars (4.9 per cent),” Mr Todradze said.
All sectors of the Georgian economy grew during the first six months of this year, except the financial sector, Geostat added.
