Acronis completes T-Soft acquisition, opens Sofia office

Singapore-based Acronis, a global leader in cyber protection and hybrid cloud storage, has officially opened its new office in the Bulgarian capital Sofia. The announcement follows the acquisition earlier this year of Bulgarian software engineering company T-Soft, now rebranded as Acronis Bulgaria. Acronis hopes to use Sofia as a launch pad to expand its research and development (R&D) operations in Europe.

Prior to the acquisition, T-Soft had been providing Acronis with exceptional software development services since 2012, enhancing the quality of Acronis’ products and augmenting the effectiveness of Acronis’ engineering teams. Acronis now plans to expand the existing team in Bulgaria to 300  engineers, investing 43 million euros over the next three years to  establish a key R&D center in Europe fully focused on cyber  protection.

“We have some of the best and brightest software engineers in Bulgaria, performing at the highest standards. We’re proud to join the Acronis team and continue our work as part of the world’s leading cyber protection corporation,” said Plamen Toshev, managing director, Acronis Bulgaria.

“Acronis needs more engineers to develop the innovative technologies that can satisfy the growing need for cyber protection. As part of our growth strategy, we are increasing our presence in Europe, and Sofia, Bulgaria felt like a logical step for us. We already had a local partner with great engineers located here. We’re going to build on their success to grow our R&D activities in Europe. It’s a great place to access the European talent pool,” said Serguei Beloussov, founder and CEO of Acronis.

Founded in Singapore in 2003, Acronis software is used by more than five million consumers and 500,000 businesses worldwide.
