Romania’s Dacia continues impressive growth

The market share of Romanian carmaker Dacia increased to 3.7 per cent in the European Union in the first quarter of 2019.

Dacia, part of the Renault Group, saw production rise to 97,231 units in the first three months of the year, according to data from the Automobile Manufacturers Association of Romania (ACAROM). The figure represents a 13.9 per cent increase on the same period of 2018.

The hugely popular Duster model dominated production, accounting for more than three-quarters of output (75,321 units).

Dacia now outsells Hyundai and Kia, making it the 12th most popular brand of car in the EU.
