Swiss artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) software developer Business Investigation (BIGPS) has moved into Tallinn with plans to move its research and development division to Estonia.
BIGPS, creator and developer of the GPS analytical platform based on AI and ML, has created an Estonian entity to increase sales and service the Baltics, Nordics and Central Europe.
According to a BIGPS press release, Tallinn was a logical choice, due to the: “competence found in Estonia and its well-developed digital state ecosystem, local know-how, expertise and infrastructures.”
“We are certainly interested in looking for future cooperation opportunities with Estonian government agencies that are known to be the most digitally advanced institutions in the world. The development of our GPS application, based on artificial intelligence and machine learning, integrated within the Estonian excellent platforms would certainly be mutually beneficial,” explained Bruno Ciroussel, CEO and co-founder of BIGPS.
With its headquarters in Gland near Geneva, the company’s GPS platform development is a cooperation with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and the School of Business and Engineering Vaud in Yverdon.
“GPS is an AI-based solution which uses machine learning for analysing work processes helping to optimise them and decrease a company’s or government agency’s costs as well as energy and time consumption,” added Marc Lecoultre, the company’s co-founder.
The function of GPS software lies in forecasting scenarios and identifying linearities in processes and flows, providing its users with information that supports more rational decision-making.
AI and ML are still in the early stages of development: “This is exactly why we have been putting in years of research to develop a technology that would help optimise the processes for banks, insurance companies, industrial enterprises, medical facilities, the retail sector, airports, ports, etc. The list of sectors that would benefit from our technology is an extensive one,” added Mr Lecoultre.
With almost ten years of developing the technology behind its GPS platform, the company feels that it is ready for global expansion. While still a relatively young company, the GPS solution itvhas developed is being used by some of the biggest companies in the world, including Volkswagen and French supermarket chain Auchan.
“This year, we are looking to hire 12 to 15 people in Tallinn, and recruiting here will definitely continue due new markets and rapid growth,” concluded Mr Lecoultre.
