Slovenia’s Prime Minister Miro Cerar resigned on March 16 after the country’s top court annulled a referendum held last year on a key railway project, ordering a new vote. The court ruled that the backing Mr Cerar’s government offered for the railway project during the referendum campaign was one-sided, and could have affected the outcome of the vote. The move means that Slovenia’s parliamentary elections, which were due in early June, will now be held some weeks earlier.
