German-Kosovo joint venture invests 169 million euros in Mitrovica wind farm

German-Kosovo joint venture SOWI Kosovo has announced plans to invest 169 million euros to install 30 wind turbines, with a total capacity of 105 megawatts, in the northern municipality of Mitrovica. It will be the largest direct investment ever made in the area.

“We are making history,” commented Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, welcoming the joint venture. In cooperation with the local partners and license holders, SOWI Kosovo aims at providing green energy solutions for Kosovo and also serves as an investor’s forum for already licensed renewable energy activities in Kosovo

“This is the year of economic development,” added the Kosovan Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrith Shala. “It will enable our young people to have sustainable employment in their country.”
