Emerging Europe Talks Travel with Mark Baker

Some parts of emerging Europe are once again opening up to international tourists, while others – including some countries which have been successful in fighting Covid-19 – have delayed reopening for fear of reigniting the pandemic.

Few industries in the region have been as seriously impacted as tourism, more so even than in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the global financial crisis of a decade ago. What will the post-coronavirus travel and tourism industry look like? How will services change and what can the industry across emerging Europe do to embrace these changes and new trends?

Andrew Wrobel speaks with Mark Baker, a freelance journalist and travel writer, based in Prague since 1991. He has authored a number of guidebooks about Central and Eastern Europe, and his travel stories have appeared in National Geographic Traveller, BBC World News, and the Wall Street JournalIn the past, he has also been a correspondent for The Economist and Bloomberg.
