An increasing number of Romanian companies are investing abroad.
There have already been two transactions in the Republic of Moldova this year, and Romanian gas grid operator Tranzgas is planning international expansion. Banca Transilvania has also expanded into Austria and Greece, and telecom group RCS&RDS is currently operating in Hungary, Spain and Italy.
Cristian Parvan, general secretary of the AOAR (an employers’ association), told Bucharest-based English-language newspaper Business Review that: “International expansion is a company strategy, but also a government strategy. Compared with other governments, Romania’s government has no idea how to support local companies aiming to invest abroad.”
