Serbia’s technology sector is booming, already accounting for six per cent of the country’s GDP and employing around 45,000 individuals. In 2019, the country exported 1.5 billion euros worth of IT products and services. The gaming and blockchain sectors are booming. The government has digitalised a lot of its public services and introduced coding classes in primary schools.
Nenad Paunović, director of the IT and Entrepreneurship Team in the Office of the Serbian Prime Minister, and previously one of the founders of the Belgrade Venture Forum, the largest innovation, investments and entrepreneurship event in the region, speaks to Andrew Wrobel about how Serbia has sped up on the route to become a digital economy over the last few years.
