There may be more than ever young people globally that need education, but the level of education is rising globally.
In 2019, the number of children enrolled in primary education globally amounted to some 739 million, up by over 12 per cent compared to 2000.
According to UNESCO, in 2020, over 235 million students were enrolled in higher education across the globe, more than doubling the 100 million students two decades earlier.
The UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 4 says that every one of its 193 member states spends between four and six per cent of their GDP or 15-20 per cent of total public expenditure on education by 2030.
Iryna Volnytska, president of SET University, speaks with Andrew Wrobel about the future of education, the role of technology in how we learn and how we access education.
They also talked about the challenges the sector is facing in Ukraine, about potential brain drain and the importance of providing the right skills to help rebuild the country after the war.
