MD Elektronik, a German producer of data cables for the automotive industry, has announced plans to open a new plant in the Bulgarian city of Vratsa. The plant, in which total investment is 22 million leva (11 million euros) will be equipped with the latest technologies and a specialised training centre.
“The municipality will provide logistical support to the investor, whose plant will create 300 jobs for high skilled people,” said Maria Popova, deputy mayor of Vratsa. A second phase of investment will bring the total number of people employed at the factory to 1,000.
The Bulgarian plant will be MD’s fourth largest, behind facilities in the Czech Republic, Mexico and China.
“Three years of serious work have paid off,” added Vladimir Hristov, a Vratsa councilor. “This class A investment is crucial for the development of Vratsa and the whole region.”
