A statue of Christ in Świebodzin, western Poland, has been revealed to have transmitters installed on its head, providing internet to nearby villages. A group of local journalists using drones discovered that the monument, which is the tallest Jesus statue in the world, has a collection of antennae placed under its crown, with the internet provider later confirming the agreement. The provider explained that the Church required the antennae for surveillance, though the signal is also relayed to other clients. The parish have as yet refused to comment.
The statue was built in 2010 with donations from local citizens.
