Thirteen events dedicated to key economic sectors, across four Moldovan regions.
The largest economic forum in the country, Moldova Business Week 2024 (MBW 2024), is back in a new edition to offer every entrepreneur in Moldova extended access to development opportunities, regardless of the region they are in.
For the first time, the event will take place in four key regions—Chișinău, Edineț, Ungheni, and Bălți—bringing together over a thousand participants, from foreign investors and local entrepreneurs to high-ranking officials and top economic experts.
Over the five days, from September 16-20, the forum will host 13 events dedicated to various strategic sectors of the national economy. As such, MBW 2024 is an important platform for Moldova to showcase its economic potential and progress at a national level to foreign investors, future projects, and opportunities for local businesses.
This is in the context of Moldova’s integration into the European Union by 2030, which will give it access to more European markets with over one billion consumers.
MBW 2024: New key sectors on the event agenda
The expansion of MBW 2024 to four regions of the country will provide businesses, from north to south, with access to new information and collaboration opportunities.
The event will focus on key sectors with growth and development potential, such as the agri-food, automotive and electronics, energy and infrastructure, IT, tourism and wine industry.
Also, for the first time, the event will explore emerging areas with significant opportunities, such as the pharmaceutical industry and medical tourism, following global trends and the growth potential of these sectors in the country.
Moldova Business Week 2024 will explore how the country can become a leading player on the global economic stage. Thus, for a week, 13 thematic events will be organised in different regions of the country.
September 16, MBW 2024: Investment, innovation, and collaboration for economic growth
On September 16, the opening events of the business week will take place in Chișinău, an event attended by high-ranking officials from Moldova and the European Union to underscore their commitment to the Moldovan business community, support for investors, and promotion of the country’s image.
Investors and those interested in financing opportunities are invited to participate in the EU-Moldova Investment Forum, where top officials and experts from the European Commission and the government of the Republic of Moldova, along with companies from the EU and Moldova, will present development opportunities in the fields of renewable energy, the circular economy and the financial sector, while also providing an opportunity to share best practices.
Those interested in learning about opportunities and new collaborations in the creative industries are invited to participate in the event, Creative Capital for Growth and Investment, organised by ArtCor—the first hub dedicated to creative industries, educational programmes, and start-up development support in the field.
September 17, MBW 2024: Real estate, technology and innovation
On September 17, non-residential real estate professionals are invited to the Real Estate Forum, which will offer opportunities to explore the regional real estate market, presenting government programmes, investments in tourism real estate, and green building developments. Although the non-residential real estate segment represents a smaller part of the market, it is recording an impressive annual growth of over four per cent, highlighting the considerable potential that Moldova offers to developers.
Those interested in innovations are welcome to the sixth StrategEast State and IT Eurasian Forum, a two-day event that serves as a unique platform bringing together global and local representatives from the private sector, governments, and financial institutions.
The forum provides an efficient framework to discuss the measures needed to boost the innovative economy across the region and to support the integration of countries into the global economic and security system.
Those working in IT are invited to SUM IT UP #6: Global Connect—Powered by MITP, a platform that will bring together leaders and innovators in technology and business. The event will present Moldova’s evolution as a global technology hub, providing the latest data from the sector and addressing six essential aspects: security, business environment, government support, ecosystem synergy, sales growth and talent development.
SUM IT UP represents an opportunity to meet MITP residents and network with other developers of the country’s IT ecosystem (such as stakeholders, donors, partners).
September 18, MBW 2024: Agrifood and electronics industry
The relationship between the agricultural and electronics sectors is becoming increasingly interconnected as technology advances.
Electronic devices and systems play a crucial role in improving efficiency, sustainability and safety in the food industry. Business week therefore continues on September 18 in Edineț, addressing the directions of agrifood and the electronics sector – one of Moldova’s promising industrial fields.
The event will include field visits, meetings with fruit producers, entrepreneurs developing nanowires and companies providing electronic systems, networking sessions with experts from both sectors and an exchange of experiences to create new opportunities.
On September 18, in Chișinău, the start-up community in the Republic of Moldova will gather at the Silicon Drinkabout event, organised by Technovator—Growing talent to innovate. This meet-up will offer the opportunity to learn about the process of starting a startup, to participate in networking sessions within the start-up community.
The event aims to create a thriving ecosystem of innovators by transforming technology, encouraging connections with the community and supporting digital progress.
September 19, MBW 2024: Wine industry and medical tourism
On September 19, guests of MBW 2024 are invited to Ungheni for an event dedicated to tourism and the wine industry.
The Republic of Moldova is among the top 20 wine-producing countries worldwide. The wine industry is one of the essential branches of the national economy, with Moldovan wines exported to over 70 countries. And Europe remains the most important market for Moldovan wines, with a value growth of 36 per cent.
In Chișinău, professionals in the pharmaceutical and medical tourism sectors are invited to participate in an event dedicated to these sectors. Discussions will address potential directions for collaboration and strategies for attracting the international pharmaceutical industry to the local market. Medical tourism will also be a central topic on the event agenda, as this sector is rapidly expanding in Moldova, thanks to local expertise and competitive medical services at a regional level.
On September 19, 2024, professionals in the field are invited to TAXCON’24—the largest international tax conference in Moldova. This is the fifth edition, a jubilee edition, and aims to address current and complex issues related to tax and customs policy and administration, accounting, auditing, reporting, and labor relations related as to the tax field.
September 20, MBW 2024: Automotive
Bălți, a central hub for the automotive industry in the Republic of Moldova, will host study visits as part of MBW 2024, dedicated to this sector of the economy.
In Moldova, the automotive sector is supported by over 20 companies from countries such as Germany, Japan, Italy, Austria, the US, Switzerland, Belgium, and Romania. This dynamically growing industry contributes significantly to Moldova’s exports and has attracted investments of 313 million US dollars.
