About Rajiv K. Bhatia

Ambassador Rajiv K. Bhatia is the Director General of the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA); after joining the Indian Foreign Service in July 1972, Mr. Bhatia served in Indian Embassies in Paris, Beirut, Brussels and Jakarta and as Consul General in Toronto. Later, he served as Ambassador/High Commissioner in Kenya, Myanmar, Mexico and South Africa, he also served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Historically, India shared a multifaceted relationship with the Central and Eastern European countries (CEECs). They developed a vibrant partnership in the areas of trade and defence during the Soviet era. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, geopolitical dynamics of the world politics drastically changed, which had transformative impact on India-CEECs relationship.
