Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to explore all avenues to getting the country back on track, including the adoption of key reforms. This was the conclusion of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe’s (OSCE) Chairperson-in-Office Miroslav Lajčák after a visit to the country’s capital, Sarajevo.
Mr Lajčák, who is also Slovakia’s foreign and European affairs minister, said that a functioning government must be formed without any further delay.
“It is a reality that differences exist, but parties should look to the future, from increasing employment, improving healthcare, ensuring quality education without discrimination and enacting environmental policies, to fighting corruption and organised crime, increasing transparency and professionalism of the judiciary, and promoting reconciliation and protection of human rights,” he said.
In order to make progress, political commitment, coherent and comprehensive strategies and uncompromising long term dedication are key.
“What we need now, more than ever, is real leadership, a strong vision, and commitment without compromise to the future of this country and its people,” he stressed.
Bosnia has been without a federal government since general elections took place in October 2018.
