Ukraine’s economic growth accelerates to 4.6 per cent in second quarter

The Ukrainian economy grew by 4.6 per cent between April and June compared with the corresponding period of 2018, the Ukrainian press has reported.

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the growth rate during the first quarter of 2019 was lower, at 2.5 per cent.

Real GDP in the second quarter of 2019 increased by 1.6 per cent in comparison with the previous quarter.

However, the Ukrainian government predicts that economic growth this year will slow to 2.7 per cent from 3.3 per cent in 2018.

In late July, the National Bank of Ukraine announced that annual inflation in Ukraine is expected to decline to 6.3 per cent by the end of this year and further to five per cent at the beginning of 2020.
