The Czech senate has approved a lawsuit against the country’s president, Miloš Zeman, for allegedly violating the constitution.
However, before the senate can file charges at the Constitutional Court, a three-fifths majority in the parliament’s lower house will also be needed.
Mr Zeman was accused of failing to act in line with the constitution in eight cases, including a repeated failure to appoint proposed government ministers. If the court agrees with the charges, Mr Zeman would lose the presidency.
