With his presidential mandate coming to an end, outgoing Slovak president Andrej Kiska has announced the creation of a new political party.
“Slovakia wants change. We won these elections,” said Mr Kiska, referring to his support for the newly-elected president Zuzana Čaputová. “Now we must win the parliamentary elections. Therefore, I am going to establish a political party. I want to connect decent and willing people and change our country for the better. Join us, there are more of us.”
As the current president must not officially be affiliated with any political party, Mr Kiska said that he will release more information only after June, when he will be replaced by Ms Čaputová.
Slovakia is due to hold parliamentary elections next year.
