Bulgaria sees sharp increase in exports to EU

Bulgaria’s National Institute of Statistics has said that the country’s exports to the rest of the European Union totalled 9.6 billion leva (4.91 billion euros) in the first quarter of 2019, an increase of more than seven per cent on the same period of 2018.

The country’s main trading partners are Germany, Romania, Italy, Greece, France and Belgium, which together accounted for more than two thirds of exports to the EU.

Bulgaria’s imports from the EU in the same period increased by 0.3 per cent to reach 9.8 billion leva (5.01 billion euros).
