Croatia’s HEP makes new solar investment

Croatia’s electricity provider Hrvatska elektroprivreda (HEP) will invest 100 million euros in four solar power plants by 2023. The total new capacity will be 11.6 MW.

The construction of the first plant, in Vis, will begin later this month while the second project in Vrlika Jug, will be built in the second half of 2019.

“These investments are in line with Croatia’s future energy strategy and EU guidelines on energy and climate policy,” said Frane Barbarić, HEP’s president. “By 2030 we are plan solar power projects with the total power capacity of 350 MW.”

“Croatia’s potential in renewable energy sources, especially solar power, is significant and I believe that through its investments by 2030 and in synergy with the Croatian industry, Hrvatska elektroprivreda will be the crucial stakeholder in bringing the new national energy strategy to life,” added Tomislav Ćorić, Croatia’s minister of environment.
