Jysk announces major Bulgarian expansion

Danish furniture and household giant Jysk has announced plans to open five new stores in Bulgaria by the end of August.

According to Alexandru Bratu, manager of Jysk’s Bulgarian and Romanian chains, the company will open “at least” five new stores to maintain its current growth tendencies and expansion rate.

“Bulgaria is among the fastest growing [markets] in the region, and the company has also been named the Investor of the Year for 2018. By the end of autumn, the distribution center in Bozhurishte, a hub for the region, will be working to at full capacity. We plan to hire at least another 100 people,” said Jysk’s regional manager, Georgi Vassilev.

Earlier this year, the company reported a 68.6 per cent rise in sales in Bulgaria during the previous financial year, amounting to 43.3 million leva, with a profit of 1.27 million leva for the same period.

Present on the Bulgarian market since 2005, the Danish company has 26 stores in 18 different cities, employing 300 people.
