Holcim Romania, part of the Swiss LafargeHolcim Group, one of the world’s leading suppliers of cement and ready-mixed concrete, has agreed to by Somaco, a Romanian producer of prefabricated concrete, from Oresa, an investment fund. The deal is subject to approval from the Romanian anti-monopoly authorities.
“Somaco is a successful business, with a wealth of experience on the local building materials market,” said Horia Adrian, CEO of Holcim Romania. “We want to bring them into the LafargeHolcim family so that together we can better deliver sustainable, wide-ranging solutions that will meet the real needs of our clients.”
Somaco currently operates five factories producing prefabricated concrete (in Teiuș, Timișoara, Târgoviște, Buzău, and Roman) as well as a plant which produces AAC blocks in Adjud. Somaco had a turnover of 56 million euros in 2018, and employs 750 people.
LafargeHolcim is a Swiss multinational present in 80 countries around the world, employing more than 80,000 people.
