Former Ukrainian president elected chairman of European Solidarity Party

Former Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko has been elected the chairman of the European Solidarity Party, formerly known as the Petro Poroshenko – Solidarity Bloc (BPP).

Aside from Mr Poroshenko, the party’s congress also elected the first deputy speaker of Ukraine’s parliament Iryna Gerashchenko, journalist Vitaliy Gaydukevich and BPP MP Mariya Ionova to its board.

Speaking at the congress, the former president vowed that European Solidarity would fight to guarantee Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and NATO.
