Emerging Europe — media partner of the first UK-Ukraine Fintech Summit on July 15

The first UK-Ukraine Fintech Summit will take place on July 15, 2021, and aims to connect the governments, key fintech visionaries, start-ups and leading technology companies of the two countries.

The event will explore current challenges and opportunities in the fintech industry, uncovering game-changing technologies behind some of the most effective financial solutions and unleashing new business opportunities for participants.

The Summit will be attended by government officials of the UK and Ukraine, leading fintech companies and industry leaders. The event is being organised by the Embassy of Ukraine in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Sigma Software Group.

Why now?

Unparalleled post-Brexit business opportunities, amplified by the UK-Ukraine free trade agreement signed at the end of 2020 have inspired this first UK-UA Fintech Summit — a must-attend event to deep dive into the specifics of British-Ukrainian cooperation.

“The new agreement does not only secure the continuity of trade between Ukraine and the UK, but also creates new opportunities for investment and drives collaboration on emerging technologies, helping companies innovate and grow,” says Vadym Prystaiko, ambassador of Ukraine to the UK.

“Ukraine’s IT industry has long been among the country’s fastest growing industries and has truly become a major driving force of economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. The rapid development of fintech in Ukraine can be attributed to a tech-savvy population, coupled with the digital transformation agenda of the Ukrainian Government,” he adds.

Why Ukraine?

Ukraine is one of the world’s emerging tech powerhouses. The local IT sector is growing five times faster (25 per cent) than the global average (4-6 per cent). Ukraine has more than 220,000 developers and is considered one of the world’s top outsourcing destinations. Over the past six years, domestic start-ups raised over two billion US dollars in venture capital investments producing Ukraine’s first three unicorns — Grammarly, GitLab, and airSlate.

According to the Ukrainian Association of FinTech and Innovation Companies there are more than 150 fintech firms in Ukraine, almost half of which (47.5 per cent) were founded in the past three years. Half of them (52 per cent) are operating in international markets.

“The Ukrainian fintech industry is maturing and already has a lot to offer to its international partners. This summit is a great way for British companies and thought leaders to get acquainted with our most prominent fintech projects, to reveal new strong business opportunities and to find long-term partners and clients,” says Valery Krasovsky, CEO and co-founder of Sigma Software Group.

“Sigma Software supports start-ups through the Sigma Software Labs business incubator and Inspirium Laboratories VC, helping them reach new markets and gain new clients. This Summit is our way of giving Ukrainian fintech start-ups a chance to present their products on the international stage to TheCityUK, London Stock Exchange Group, TiE London, FinTech Scotland, and other UK financial authorities.”
