Euronews to launch Georgian language channel

Lyon-based news network Euronews has teamed up with Georgian telecommunications provider Silknet to create a Georgian-language version of of the European TV channel.

Euronews Georgia will function as a news television and online information platform, with a focus on local and international news in the Georgian language.

Euronews Georgia is expected to be launched within a year.

“Euronews will ensure the independence of editorial policy and appoint an editor of the new channel, compose its editorial council and control its activities,” agenda.ge wrote, quoting a statement from Silknet.

Establishing the channel means that “will be another opportunity for Georgians to have access to unbiased information,” claimed Silknet.

Last week, Euronews announced the creation of Euronews Serbia.
