Ukraine to launch global Russian language TV channel

Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy chief of staff to Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that a world-wide Russian language TV channel will be launched in Ukraine to strengthen the countryโ€™s position in the information war with Russia.

In an interview with Interfax Ukraine, Mr Tymoshenko said that the new TV channel was needed to counter the pro-Russian information narrative, but also to reach Russians living in the Russian Federation.

โ€œWe have to admit that Ukraine practically lost the information war for the minds of people in the occupied territories of Donbas and Crimea. But there is still a chance to turn the situation into another direction,โ€ he told Interfax Ukraine, adding that the new channel will reach a Russian-speaking population all over the world.

The deputy chief of staff noted that President Zelensky wanted it to be a state channel, but there are negotiations with private channels about possible cooperation.
